My name is Caitlin Sclater, a Fashion
Photographer based in Sydney, Australia. I feel so fortunate to share the encounters
with the people I meet each and every day through my work, and want to dedicate
this blog to telling the stories behind each photo-shoot. The story of each day,
each smile, and the journey that was undertaken by all involved, to get the
shots that you will see published here.
So much goes into creating the images you
see in your favorite magazine, on your favorite blog, or in a fashion campaign.
Behind the glossy photographs, each shoot begins with an idea, and a
collaboration between various creative’s. Without this collaboration, these
photo-shoots would not be possible.
A little about my story:
My love for photography began at a young
age, with my Father giving me my first camera (his old Kodak film camera) at
the age of 9, recognizing the potential I had after developing some film images
I had taken during a Family holiday. He taught me everything I know about
photography, and most importantly, he taught me to follow my dreams and find
happiness in all that I do. For that, I am eternally thankful.
As I grew, photography became an
inseparable part of my life. Moving within the world around me, my camera was
an extension of my hand. I began discovering my own photographic style, finding
myself drawn to colour and youthful beauty. It is here where I draw the
inspiration for many of my images. The feeling of looking at a photograph, and
being transported to a moment or memory from your own youth can bring such an unexpected
feeling of joy. It is this feeling of joy I want my viewers to feel within my
images.
Over the years my personal photographic
style has developed and grown into something that I feel is recognizably my
own. A mixture between the youthfulness I was originally so drawn to, and a
darker, more refined fashion style that merges into what you will find here
within my blog.
I want this space to act as not only a
diary to document my photo-shoots, but to also serve as a place to show my
beginnings, and the growth and development up to the present day.
I look forward to sharing this journey with
you, and look forward to being able to communicate with you all. I am also more
than happy to answer any questions you may have, and am more than happy to give
advice should you need it while working towards your own career goals.
